The Art Behind the Art
Made by hand.
From the very beginning.
Over 50 years ago, a family workshop in the United States discovered that sand, glass, and patience could create something unlike anything else — a living work of art that changes every time you turn it.
The world’s leading Sand Art brand
More units sold, more countries reached, more lives touched than any other Sand Art brand on the planet. This is what 50 years of doing one thing — and doing it right — looks like.
It started in 1970 in a small family workshop on the East Coast of the United States. The idea was simple: take two layers of colored sand, seal them between glass, and let gravity do the rest. The result was something people couldn’t stop watching.
For years, every piece was made by hand — assembled, calibrated, and inspected one by one. No shortcuts, no machines, no compromise on quality. Just craft, patience, and an obsession with getting the movement exactly right.
“We never thought of it as a product. We thought of it as a moment of stillness we could give to someone.”
Word spread slowly at first — through local art fairs, then galleries, then design exhibitions across the country. People didn’t need to be told what it was. They just watched it, and they understood.
From early on, we believed that the best way to keep a craft alive is to share it. What began as informal sessions in our own workshop grew into a programme that has reached people of all ages — from curious children to professional artists and designers — across schools, community centres, studios and cultural events around the world.
Our workshops are open to everyone. No experience needed, no artistic background required. Just a willingness to slow down, pay attention, and discover what a little sand and patience can create.
Each session is hands-on from the very first minute — participants layer their own sand, choose their own colors, and leave with a finished piece they made themselves.
There is something that happens in every workshop, regardless of age or background — a moment when the sand starts to fall and the room goes quiet. Everyone watches. That moment is what we have been sharing for over 50 years.
What started in a single American workshop has quietly become a global presence. Today, Sand Art pieces are displayed in homes, offices, hotels, and creative spaces across more than 100 countries — not because we pushed for it, but because the craft speaks for itself.
The technique has never changed. Every frame is still assembled by hand, every grain still chosen for the way it falls. The only thing that has grown is the number of people who have discovered what a little sand and gravity can do.
Bring a piece of our story home.
Each frame carries 50 years of craft. Yours is waiting.
